TRAIL FENCE

From left, AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps crew members Javier Rocha and Estelle Usunier and Kalkaska Conservation District Conservation Specialist Renee Penny work fence posts into place on a stretch of the North Country Trail west of Kalkaska. About 66 8-foot sections of cedar posts were replaced with treated pine posts along a bluff on the North Branch of the Boardman River. This section of the North Country Trail, which runs approximately 4,600 miles from Vermont to North Dakota, was recently re-routed to include downtown Kalkaska and this area.
