Tom Johnson watches fish run up stream past his lure as he fishes for Coho and Chinook salmon on the Boardman River near the Boardman River Weir on Wednesday. Johnson said he goes downtown often to fish, and enjoys the fact that he can park his car and walk right down to the river. "Where else can you go in the big city and fish," Johnson said. Though Johnson could see numerous salmon swimming in the water below, he came up empty handed at the end of the day. "They're going up stream and most are going to die soon, so they're a little finicky," he said. Undeterred, Johnson said he plans on coming back down to the river to try his luck with different lures Thursday.
