Spectators watch as Tom Jamieson's boat, a 1967 Chris-Craft, rocks against the Open Space breakwall while an Elmer's crane attempts to lift it from the water. Jamieson's boat began taking on water while he tried to tow his son, Ben Jamieson's sailboat, far left. Ben Jamieson's sailboat broke loose from its anchor and drifted toward the breakwall. Tom Jamieson's boat started sinking after it was damaged by the rocks below, he said. An Elmer's crane was called out to retrieve the boats from the water. The National Weather Service said waves in Grand Traverse Bay reached 4 feet. See record-eagle.com to watch a video of the boats.
