DOGS HELP DESTRESS DURING MIDTERMS
Northwestern Michigan College student Morgan Reames smiles as she pets Koda, a 3 year-old Collie, who was visiting the Timothy J. Nelson Innovation Center on Wednesday with his owners Karen and Ron Sharp. Koda and other dogs are visiting during lunch and dinner hours this week to help NMC students de-stress during midterms. The program, which has been run by the Student Success Center for three years, has dogs and their owners from NMC staff and the community spend a shift, one at a time, for students to pet or snuggle to help them relax during midterms and later this semester during finals. “I love dogs,” said Reames. “I always look forward to dog de-stress week.”
