Travis Fredette of Rifkin throws a metal frame into a Dumpster full of scrap metal at Daylight Savings Clean Up and Green Up community recycle Sunday in Parking Lot B in downtown Traverse City. The annual recycle event was sponsored by Michigan Green Consortium. Participants could bring in difficult-to-recycle items and products with salvageable components or materials to the free collection. A line of cars and trucks wrapped around the block as people brought in old television sets, refrigerators, building materials, small engines, auto batteries, computers, glass bottles, sinks, wire hangers, asphalt and a wide range of plastics and Styrofoam.
