ZIP'S REPAIR

"The trick is getting it back together, anybody can take it apart," said Vern "Zip" Flees as he worked to repair a riding lawn mower in his Lake Leelanau shop. Flees, who retired from a career in masonry and excavating, said lawnmower repair has more of a hobby for him over the last 4 or 5 years. Flees said he is starts working in the garage, which used to be to village's fire station, around 6 a.m. "The birds aren't even tweeting yet," he said.
