Jayton Raphael, 12, sands one of the stand up paddleboards a group of teens has been building through a program at the Maritime Heritage Alliance Friday in Traverse City. A group of area youths from at-risk environments worked on three of the boards while school was out of session. “It’s an opportunity for kids to do something healthy and safe,” said Rorke Miller of the alliance. The project was made possible through donations and support from the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation, the Collectors Foundation, and the Begonia Charitable Foundation.
