Meredith Allen, 11, of Girl Scout Troop 10037 in Traverse City, makes a list of everything in a package put together Saturday at VFW Post 2780 with Girl Scout cookies and other treats for Michigan Air National Guard Troops in the 119th Delta Company stationed overseas. The cookies came from customers who purchased them for the program, as well as the VFW Post itself, and the cost of shipping them is being covered by Operation American Soldier, a group that works to send packages and letters of support to as many soldiers as possible. About 60 people helped pack over 1,000 packages, with 9 or 10 boxes of cookies in each as well as other snacks and treats.
