Cory Fehrenbach, 15, of Troop 131 in Suttons Bay takes notes on tractor safety warnings while working on the Farm Mechanics merit badge during Saturday's Merit Badge Tech Day at the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District Career Tech Center in Traverse City. The event, hosted by the Boy Scouts of America's President Ford Field Service Council, offered over 300 scouts from about 55 troops across the state the opportunity to earn two merit badges from 31 choices ranging from chess and first aid to cooking and graphic arts. Aviation was offered at Northwestern Michigan College's nearby facilities, and U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City hosted scouts working on the search and rescue merit badge.
