HOLY ANGELS' LAST DAY
Record-Eagle/Jan-Michael Stump
Secretary Nikki Kleinrichert high fives outgoing fourth grader Halle Kadlec, 10, as students and faculty celebrate the last day of school at Holy Angels Elementary School on Wednesday in Traverse City. Students will move to the new Immaculate Conception Elementary School - currently under construction - next year as the adjacent Traverse City St. Francis High School takes over the entire building. Fourth grade students from Immaculate Conception Elementary School attended classes at Holy Angels following the demolition of the old school, while fifth graders attended St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Middle School. Holy Angels opened in 1965 as St. Francis Elementary School, and changed its name to Holy Angels in 1998. The new building, located on Vine Street, will house preschool through fifth grade students when it is completed.
