Traverse City West Middle School eighth graders, from left, Audrey Wolff, 14, Makenna Ebling, 14, Jamie Cronk, 14, Isablle Baumann, 14, and Jax Merwin, 14, carry one of the four interpretive trail signs their class made for Kids Creek Park in Garfield Township. Students in Tara DenHerder's science class researched the topics - native plants and pollinators, Emerald Ash Borer, the Franke mill and aquatic habitats - and created signs for the trail with help from the Grand Traverse Conservation District and funding help from the Grand Traverse Stewardship Initiative.
