IRIS BLOOMS

People pick, photograph and paint blooming iris at the Iris Farm on M-72 in Traverse City. Owner Bill Black said the current stretch of cool, wet weather will help the blossoms last longer this season. The farm has close to one thousand varieties of iris, ranging from experimental to heritage. Black said a woman brought him one from her great grandfather's farm in Charlevoix that smells like orange blossoms.
