TIN CAN TOURISTS
Record-Eagle/Jan-Michael Stump
"Before we ever had an Airstream, we knew we wanted to have nose art on it, and we wanted it to reflect vacation or relaxation," said Jason Black, who towed a 1964 Airstream Safari to Interlochen State Park with his wife Angela for the Tin Can Tourists Centennial Celebration Caravan. The group, which began in 1919, claims the title of oldest and largest vintage trailer club in the world. The event, one of a number of rallies, caravans and events around the country celebrating the group's centennial, began on Monday, June 17, at the Ingham County Fairgrounds. The group then traveled north through Manistee to Interlochen, where the group will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the park's south campsite in conjunction with the Michigan State Parks centennial celebration.
