VIKING FAREWELL

Family and friends of Dr. Paul Odland gather on the shore of Crystal Lake to pay tribute on Saturday in Beulah. Odland's friend, Jim Kilgus, made a Drakkar, or dragon-style, ship that contained a small amount of Odland's ashes. The ship was placed upon a small pyre and burned as loved ones sang and toasted Odland, who passed away in December at the age of 96.
