DOG IN CAR
Record-Eagle/Jan-Michael Stump
North Flight Josh Slyer, left, and EMT Cody Chrivia tend to a dog found locked in a car in downtown Traverse City on Thursday afternoon. A passer-by told Traverse City Police Officer Chris Whetstone about a dog locked in an SUV on State Street as temperatures hovered around 80 degrees. A tow truck was called to open the SUV, and Officer Whetstone carried the dog to an ambulance parked nearby for the evening's National Cherry Festival Junior Royale Parade. A note was left on the SUV, the dog was taken to Cherryland Humane Society, and information was sent to the prosecutor's office.
