COAST GUARD MONUMENT
Record-Eagle/Jan-Michael Stump
Sherry Fauble brushes freshly-placed stones as she and other volunteers with Home Depot work on the future home of a U.S. Coast Guard monument on East Front Street in downtown Traverse City on Thursday afternoon. The volunteers worked with Peninsula Pavers to lay the base for the brick paver pad, then placed stone around cinder block walls on two ends of the site. A sculpture designed by Traverse City West graduate Mallory Heiges, who partnered with metal artist Matt Coffey, will be placed later. The dedication will held on September 6.
