STOMP ROCKETS
Author and illustrator Brianne Farley makes her own stomp rocket after reading to children at the Traverse Area District Library East Bay Branch. The rockets construction was led by Keith Kelly, an instructor in the Northwestern Michigan College robotics program, and participants were able to keep the launch device made from PVC pipes and two-liter pop bottles. On Tuesday, July 16, Space Camp at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala, is encouraging people to launch their own rockets to help recognize the 50th anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11 with it's Global Rocket Launch event in honor of the first successful manned trip to the moon.
