Adam Cole of the Traverse City Parks and Recreation Department breaks packs up a hose he and Adam Adamczak used to spray water on the ice skating rink at Thirlby Field on Monday morning. Adamczak said it was the second time they flooded the rink that morning, as temperatures hovered in the single digits. "We try to flood when its the coldest part of the day - in the morning," said Adamczak, "so it's frozen up by the time people come to skate on it." Adamczak and Cole said they planned to flood the rinks at F and M Park and Traverse Heights a second time that morning, too.
