PIG HEART DISSECTION
From left, Immaculate Conception Elementary School fifth graders Thatcher Beaudoin, 11, Ariana Brockie, 10, and Valerie Peck, 11, watch Dr. Nick Slocum explain how to dissect pig hearts on Wednesday in Traverse City. Students, who have been studying the human body in science, had a chance to cut apart pig hearts, examine pig lungs and see how a number of different medical devices used in cardiology, such as stents and stethascopes, are used.
