12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS
Record-Eagle/Jan-Michael Stump
Brook Genereaux, 15, helps install a "The Muppet Christmas Carol," inspired painting by a group of Traverse City High School students, led by art teacher Elaine McDaniel, outside a home on Spruce Street on Tuesday in Traverse City. The 9-foot by 12-foot canvas is one of eight holiday movie-inspired works painted by area schools that will be featured amongst the street's "12 Days of Christmas" display between Sixth and West Front Streets. The lights will go on and the paintings uncovered on Saturday at 5 p.m. Richard Odell, a resident who organized the first display last year, said this year he has set up a voting system for people to text their favorite painting, with the art program of the winning school receiving $1,000 and $500 and $250 awards for the second and third place entries, respectively.
