Louis Bennett, 9, of Manistee watches Henry Stachnik, 10, of Traverse City practice his swing while learning to play cricket on Thursday through Northwestern Michigan College's Extended Education Program at the NMC Physical Education Building gym. The class was taught by Gavin Richmond, a Glen Lake Community Schools teacher who played and coached the sport in his native England. Students learned the basics of the game, ball and bat techniques, and played a simplified version of a match. "I hope it keeps going," said Richmond, who would like to expand interest in the area. "I think its important for kids to play as many spots as they can."
