Louis Bennett, 9, of Manistee celebrates scoring a run while learning to play cricket with a dozen other children on Thursday through Northwestern Michigan College's Extended Education Program at the NMC Physical Education Building gym. The class was taught by Gavin Richmond, a Glen Lake Community Schools teacher who played and coached the sport in his native England. Students learned the basics of the game, ball and bat techniques, and played a simplified version of a match. "I hope it keeps going," said Richmond, who would like to expand interest in the area. "I think its important for kids to play as many spots as they can."
