EAGLE RELEASE
Record-Eagle/Jan-Michael Stump
Rebecca Lessard of Wings of Wonder releases the second of two immature bald eagles on Saturday at the Homestead Township Hall in Honor. The first, a male about four years old, was found by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources near Atlanta, Mich about a month ago. The second, a female about three years old, was found along a road near Honor about six weeks. Both birds were thought to have been hit by cars, but not severely injured, and were brought to the non-profit raptor sanctuary near Empire for rehabilitation with Lessard. "I'm glad to release these two because they are big eaters," said Lessard, who added she was feeding them about 500 grams of food a day.
