The Traverse City West steel drum ensemble, including, from left, alumni Stephanie Long and Nick Hirschenberger and ninth graders Mary Roth and Ruthy Lynch, perform at the corner of Park and Front Streets in downtown Traverse City during Tuesday's Drumathon - 12 hours of uninterrupted percussion. A clock in front shows the event has been going for six hours, twelve minutes and 14 seconds. About 25 students and a few alumni percussionists ranging from the drum line to marimbas performed at The Village at Grand Traverse Commons, the Open Space and several locations in downtown Traverse City with the goal of raising $5,000.
