VIRTUAL 4-H
Kadin Crosley pets his market heifer, Bailey, while feeding her outside his family farm, Edgecomb Farms, in Traverse City. Crosley is one of the 4-H youth from Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau Counties who will virtually showing and auctioning livestock following the cancellation of area fairs due to COVID-19. "I love to go show, the community is the biggest thing," said Crosley, who said he looks forward to spending time with family and friends each year at the Northwestern Michigan Fair. "Now it's just like a regular old day at the farm." This year Crosley prepped Bailey as he normally would to show, but instead judges will watch a video tape of her and other entries to decide grand and reserve champions. Market judging begins Thursday morning at 8 a.m. on http://www.waltonwebcasting.com, while the virtual auction will happen Saturday, August 8th through Monday, August 10th, 2020. Still exhibits, animal showmanship and small animal market projects judging will take place August 10th thru August 14th with results posted at https://fairentry.com/Fair/SignIn/14766
