COLANTHA'S GARDEN CELEBRATION
Wyatt VanHaitsma, 8, of Fife Lake throws a football through a hole, one of the games for children at Sunday's Colantha's Garden Celebration at Historic Barns Park. Colantha Walker was a Holstein-Friesian cow in a herd owned by the Traverse City State Hospital as part of a self-sustaining farm operation run by staff and patients. She produced 22,918 pounds of milk In 1926, making her the highest producer in the world. Colantha died in 1932, and a memorial was placed on her grave at the gardens.
