Santa Claus lights up downtown Traverse City Friday evening during the annual community Christmas tree lighting ceremony. The tree, a blue spruce from the Long Lake Township Hall, stands approximately 40 feet tall. Santa received a key to the city from Traverse City Mayor Pro-Tem, Ralph Soffredine along with a serenade of holiday songs from members of the Sweet Adelines. Santa also visited with children at his holiday house at the corner of Cass and East Front street.
