Veterans representing American wars stand at attention as Northport's Memorial Day ceremonies begin Monday morning at Leelanau Township Cemetery. Veterans from right are: Maj. Aaron Kohler (Iraqi Freedom), Capt. John Stamos (Persian Gulf), James Custer (Vietnam), Dick Hanson (Korean War) and Raymond Ross (World War II). Three empty chairs draped in black ribbon, not pictured, honored the veterans of World War I, the Spanish-American War and the Civil War.
