Workers from P.K. Contracting apply a special paint to a section of Five Mile Road after grinding off the previous lane markings.
The Grand Traverse County Road Commission used $278,000 in federal stimulus funds to pay for the special paint that adheres like an epoxy and should last three years. The road commission warns motorists to beware of paint overspray in work areas. The paint, which dries in three to four minutes, requires professional repair to remove from vehicles. Motorists can expect delays in work areas on East Bay and Garfield Township roads through June 18. Updates on work area locations are available at http://www.gtcrc.org.
