The Maritime Heritage Alliance held its 24th annual boat auction Saturday at the Discovery Center-Great Lakes campus. The auction -- featuring sailboats, power boats, kayaks and other vessels -- brought in nearly $25,000 for the nonprofit organization, said Mark Thompson, executive director of the Maritime Heritage Alliance. All proceeds from the auction benefit the schooner Madeline, the Success Always Involves Learning Championship program for at-risk youth, and the MHA Restoration Shop mentoring program.
