"This is our best day ever, and it's only 10:30," said Pearl Brown, owner of Old Mission Multigrain Bakery and Cafe. "We've never had this many people in here." The store, on South Airport Road, was visited by a cash mob Saturday morning. A cash mob is a group of people who show up and spend money at a local business, spurred by social media. Julie Millen, a friend of Brown's, read about the trend and decided to get it started in Traverse City, using Facebook, Twitter and word-of-mouth to encourage people to shop there. Brown gets to choose the next business as part of the deal, which will be announced this week.
