Matt Smith digs up cattails as he and other volunteers help staff members with the Grand Traverse Conservation District transplant native species from an area next to the Boardman River in the Brown Bridge Quiet Area that will become a one to one-and-a-half acre open water wetland as part of a wetlands enhancement project in the area upstream from the former Brown Bridge Dam.
