ARGUS' SLED

Jerry Franck takes his 10 year-old Leonberger, Argus to the Traverse City Dog Park almost daily, using a sled to pull the 109 pound dog from his car to the park because of the dog's arthritis. "He wants to go, he's happy to be here," said Franck, who started using the sled last November after Argus began struggling to make it to the park on his own. "He starts watching me around lunch time to see if I'm putting my boots on, getting ready to go." Franck said the vet told him that Argus is in otherwise good health, so they'll continue to make their daily afternoon trips to the park so Argus can spend a couple hours watching the other dogs run around. "He's never in a hurry to get home. He's always been just a real easy-going dog," said Franck. "This is probably the most fun he has. We'll just keep on keepin' on for a little while longer."
