Bill Ankerson tends to about a dozen calves early on a summer morning. Gallagher's Centennial Farm has close to 600 acres of farm land accommodating cattle and cherry orchards. Just two years ago, corn cost $2.50 a bushel. The commodity, which is used as a primary source to feed livestock, has reached close to $8 a bushel this summer.
