Mike Porter won the overall mens title and Karen Hypro earned the womens overall championship at the 29th annual Grand Traverse Bodybuilding and Figure Championships held Saturday at the Leelanau Sands Showroom in Suttons Bay.
Presented by Fit For You Health Club, the competition featured 10 categories. The mens division included Mens Grand Masters (50 and older), Mens Masters (40 and older), Mens Short and Mens Tall. The womens competition featured Womens Masters (35 and older), Womens Short, Womens Tall, Womens Elite and Figure championship. The contest also featured an overall mens, womens and figure winner.
There are a number of standards judging criterion which the judges must follow as dictated by the National Physique Committee. Among the elements judges must consider are muscularity, symmetry and posing.
