Mike Porter won the overall men's title and Karen Hypro earned the women's overall championship at the 29th annual Grand Traverse Bodybuilding and Figure Championships held Saturday at the Leelanau Sands Showroom in Suttons Bay.
Presented by Fit For You Health Club, the competition featured 10 categories. The men's division included Men's Grand Masters (50 and older), Men's Masters (40 and older), Men's Short and Men's Tall. The women's competition featured Women's Masters (35 and older), Women's Short, Women's Tall, Women's Elite and Figure championship. The contest also featured an overall men's, women's and figure winner.
There are a number of standards judging criterion which the judges must follow as dictated by the National Physique Committee. Among the elements judges must consider are muscularity, symmetry and posing.
