Lynn Merrill, of Farmington Hills, Mich., tries to figure out the flavors of a Makers Mark peach sorbet during Dining in the Dark at the Taste of Traverse City event at the Aerie Restaurant and Lounge on Saturday.
Merrill was on her first trip to Traverse City, and was on her second day of Taste of Traverse City events, she said. After a night meeting new people on the Grub Crawl, she came to the top of the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa hotel to be blindfolded while eating food. "It's wonderful, it makes you focus," she said. "People usually rush through their meals. (Blindfolding) gives them a chance to slow down, be curious about what's in their food," Carol Lewis, the producer of Taste of Traverse City, said.
