2009-2010 National Cherry Queen Angela Sayler laughs as Traverse City Mayor Chris Bzdok analyzes his slice of cherry pie before tasting it Friday, July 9, 2010 during the Cherry Pie Throwdown at the Open Space. The event, sponsored by the Grand Traverse Pie Company, pitted the Michigan State University mascot, Sparty, against the National Cherry Festival mascot, Mr. Cherry, to see who could bake the best cherry crumb pie. Sayler and Bzdok were judges in the event.
