Kicking off Saturday, the Festival of Trains runs through New Year's Day at the Grand Traverse Heritage Center, featuring extensive displays of model trains in the Z, N, HO, S and G scales. The annual festival is presented by the Northern Michigan Railroad Club. Organizers hope to draw 10,000 visitors over the event's almost three-week run.
