People raise their hands for an aerial group photo as nearly 100 people gathered at the Open Space in Traverse City for Tuesday's "Light It Blue" rally for autism awareness on the second annual United Nations World Autism Awareness Day. The group first marched from Ecco downtown to the park, where they set up luminaries in the shape of a puzzle piece which symbolizes the mystery and complexity of Autism Spectrum Disorder. There are an estimated 3 million people in the United States affected by autism, a general term used to describe a group of complex developmental brain disorders.

"I can't believe these are my old pants," said Jack Pickard (cq), who lost 115 pound -- and plans to keep going -- through an intensive 12-day residential MOVE! weight management program for veterans.
