Corey Sanborn, of KV Electric, installs a main service for a booster pump station at Hickory Hills. The pump will allow the city-owned ski area to increase its snowmaking capabilites from four snow guns to seven running at once. Fundraising is currently under way for the sixth and seventh snow guns, as well as for the second phase, which will add a second well and pump and bring the number of snow guns to 12. The current phase was funded largely through a Rotary Charities grant and Grand Traverse Ski Club fundraising, said ski area manager Barry Smith.
