Vehicles drive through a large puddle at the intersection of Front and Barlow streets in Traverse City Thursday afternoon during a rainstorm. More than an inch of rain had fallen on the city through the afternoon, according to Meteorologist Keith Berger, of the National Weather Service office in Gaylord. “The rate of fall was the big thing (in Traverse City),” Berger said. “Most of that fell over the course of about two hours. That kind of water in that amount of time ... storm drains can’t keep up with it.” Berger said residents can expect more rain today.
