Sam Hansz (cq), 11, of Cheboygan peers inside a log cabin made from toilet paper and paper towel rolls by Leelanau Montessori students, one of the over 50 entries in the Habitat Home Challenge on display Saturday in the Grand Traverse Mall. The event partnered Business 231 students from Northwestern Michigan College, second and third grade students from Lakeland Elementary School in Elk Rapids, and several area business to raise awareness for Habitat for Humanity's Depot Neighborhood -- to be built in Traverse City -- as well as net zero building principles. Home models were built using recycled materials, with prizes awarded in seven categories ranging from People's Choice to Most Environmental.
