The car, a Cadillac donated by Rifkin Scrap Iron and Metal, will be used to help people work on getting in and out of a car, loading groceries and even getting into the back seat after a hip replacement, said Gretchen Fraser, director of the Wellness Center at the Pavilions. The middle part of the car will be intact, she said, from in front of the windshield to behind the rear doors. The Pavilions' rehab center is expected to open in mid-May.
