John Holtz carries his skis to the Vasa Pathway Trailhead in Acme for Saturday's Winter Trails Day, sponsored by TART and the Vasa Ski Club. Club members taught lessons in both traditional and skate-skiing techniques. Holtz, who has been a traditional cross-country skier for 40 years, was there to learn the other method. "If you do the traditional stuff, everyone is passing you with the skate-skiing stuff, so I thought I'd learn that today," he said.
