GTHA Skillympics : Two hundred and forty hockey players, ages 9-14, took part in individual and team competitions at the fourth annual Grand Traverse Hockey Association Skillympics held Saturday at Centre ICE. Half-ice events included shooting and passing accuracy, partner passing and shooting speed, figure 8's and obstacle course. Full-ice events featured two-lap sprint, team relay and a shoot-off.

Gals, Glam & Glitz : Zonta Club's second annual Gals, Glam and Glitz fundraiser featured 25 models wearing 70 different outfits Friday at the Hagerty Center in Traverse City. The runway fashion show, with hair and makeup designs by Impres Salon Spa, raised an estimated $10,000, noted event co-chairs Peg Jonkhoff and Marsha Dew. Contributing outfits for the evening fashion show were What to Wear, Calis, Ellas, Boutique A La Vie and Ali Hoxsie Urban Innovations.
