"It makes some noise every once in a while and that freaks you out," said Glenn Reinertson of Empire, who was catching Lake Trout on the West Arm of Grand Traverse Bay, about halfway between Old Mission Peninsula and Power Island, on Monday morning, March 2, 2009,. Reinertson said it was the first season he'd ice fished on the bay, which had about 4 or 5 inches of ice at his location. "What the hell, it doesn't freeze over that often," he said. "I feel safe on it."
